Next stop: Hamburg – The world’s biggest wind energy summit approaches

In September this year, Hamburg will host WindEnergy, the leading expo for onshore and offshore wind turbine technology. It is more than a simple trade fair and will address the whole value chain for wind energy. Why should professionals attend and what can they expect?

WindEnergy Hamburg is one of the world’s foremost wind power exhibitions, providing a platform to share knowledge on the latest developments in the sector. WindEnergy Hamburg will be held alongside the WindEurope Conference again – combining two major events. SKF is member of WindEurope and has appeared at previous conferences. As an active participant, SKF plays a key role in exchanging wind energy industry knowledge in presentations, scientific posters, and by acting as an abstract reviewer.

The overall event is called the Global Wind Summit and is the world’s largest wind energy event. With the summit offering a diverse range of highlights, including networking opportunities, discussion on pressing issues, details of technology developments, and more, the trade fair promises to be biggest one so far.

From September 25–28, 2018, approximately 35,000 trade visitors will make their way to Hamburg for this years’ top event. Participants hail from around 100 different nations and there will be 1,400 exhibitors present.

What to expect from an action-packed four days

There is a full schedule lined up for the Global Wind Summit with a focus on key aspects of the modern wind energy sector, including both onshore and offshore. It is an absolute must for those wishing to stay up to date with everything happening in the industry. The four days each have a different focus:

  • Day 1: Electrification and sector-coupling
  • Day 2: Digital wind and new technologies
  • Day 3: Wind industry in a merchant environment
  • Day 4: New markets and new frontiers

And, as with previous years, SKF will also make an appearance. The bearing, seal, lubrication systems, and service provider can be found in Hall B6 at Stand 370. SKF will showcase its spherical-roller bearings for wind turbine main shafts as well as other solutions for the wind energy industry.
