An exclusive peek – Highlights from SKF’s Hamburg facility tour

On September 25, 2024, SKF opened the doors of its Hamburg facility to a select group of industry professionals from around the world. The event offered attendees a firsthand look at advanced processes for main shaft repair, wind turbine maintenance, and performance diagnostics, showcasing the latest in turbine care.

For the participants of SKF’s exclusive event in Hamburg, the day started with a deep dive into SKF’s “Find – Fix – Eliminate” approach. The session demonstrated how bearing issues affecting turbine performance are detected, addressed, and prevented, offering a clear picture of the technical expertise behind turbine maintenance. Attendees were able to understand the detailed process SKF follows to maintain turbine health and efficiency.

The tour continued with a visit to the Main Shaft Repair Center, where participants witnessed live demonstrations of advanced shaft restoration techniques. This firsthand experience revealed the precision and engineering required to enhance and extend the life of turbine components, deepening their understanding of the complexities involved.

Another key moment was the visit to the Remote Diagnostics Center. Here, SKF experts showcased how turbine health is monitored remotely through real-time data. Attendees gained insights into the ability to detect potential issues early, allowing for timely intervention before they escalate into more significant challenges.
