WindEurope comes to Bilbao

The next big wind energy event draws near

Now the dust has settled on the 2018 WindEurope Conference and Exhibition in Hamburg, attention turns to Bilbao, Spain. As with the event in Hamburg, SKF will be present again with an exhibition booth and will also provide speakers to the program. There’s plenty to look forward to on a packed agenda.

The future of wind energy in Spain looks bright – with plans to generate more than 4 GW via onshore wind by 2020. This makes Bilbao the perfect host for the installment of the WindEurope Conference and Exhibition, which takes place April 2–4. The event will draw around 8,000 wind energy professionals from across the globe and 300 exhibitors from 50 nations.

What is the WindEurope mission?

WindEurope hosted its first event in 1984 and has held conferences and exhibitions regularly ever since. The WindEurope vision is to establish wind energy as the foremost source of green electricity. In order to achieve this, the organization seeks to facilitate national and international policies with effective communication and act as a single voice for the entire sector.

The Bilbao edition provides attendees with the opportunity to make new contacts, generate leads, learn more about Spain’s commitment to wind energy, and find out more about the latest products and policies. Speakers will also provide key insights into the current hot topics in wind energy, such as digital transformation. The themes for the three days are:

  • Day one – The energy transition: from political vision to practical reality
  • Day two – Grids: how to support a wind-based energy system
  • Day three – What wind means for people: a clean Europe for all Europeans

SKF continues its work at WindEurope events
SKF will be present, as it was at many previous WindEurope events to date. The company will have an exhibition stand, where attendees can discuss any challenges they are facing or goals they have with SKF experts. The booth will feature scale models of products, including SKF spherical roller bearings for wind turbine main shafts.

SKF to present on the benefits of the circular economy

Raimond Breuker from SKF will take part in the conference by speaking about creating a circular economy in wind energy with bearing and lubrication system remanufacturing. Attendees will find out more about how reusing finite sources, such as the materials used to make bearings, not only enables companies to boost service life but also become more profitable.

The next WindEurope Exhibition and Conference is just around the corner. If you haven’t done so already, you can book a ticket on the event website.
